The Three Pillars of Salvation

Saturday, December 19, 2014

This is an excerpt from the message on “The Three Pillars of Salvation” delivered by Pastor Léonard Gonitoua, President of P.A.S. HOPFAN, as he was preaching in Bangui in 2014:

“My Brothers and Sisters, the Word of GOD does not lie. Regardless of what common men and wise men say, GOD watches over His Word to fulfill it. Regardless of what your Pastor or your Prophet says, regardless of what you say, the Word of GOD will never change. If you walk according to the Word of GOD, you have life because GOD is the Word.

Today we will analyze what I have called the ‘Three Pillars of Salvation.’

My Brother, ma Sister, you can have it all: wealth, fame, health, etc. But if you do not have eternal life, you have gained nothing.

Jesus Christ said that he who seeks and finds the Kingdom of Heaven, all his/her other needs will be given to him/her. What is of outmost importance to GOD is that you and I be saved.”

We encourage you to read GOD’s Word, the Bible, regularly so that you do not miss all the Blessings the Lord has in store for you, especially eternal Salvation in Jesus Christ, our Lord, Saviour and Master.

We invite you to read the sixth edition of The Daily Bread “The Three Pillars of Salvation” to hear more about this topic.

GOD bless you.

Shalom!

This is between me and you.” The blood intervened at that moment… (Read the full chapter)

4. The power of Water

When GOD’s Glory came down, the sea was scared! It said “GOD is here! Split in two!” The water started to shrink back under the eyes of the Israelites. The Spirit, the water and the blood testify and the three are in agreement

1 John 5:5-9

In the book of 1 John, chapter 5, verses 5-9 (New International Version), the Word of GOD says:

5. Who is it that overcomes the world ? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 6. This is the one who came by water and blood–Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7. For there are three that testify : 8. the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. 9. We accept man’s testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son.

The Bible says that there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood. And the three are in agreement. If there is the Spirit, but not water, something is missing. If there is the Spirit, the water but not the blood, there is something missing. The Word says that the Spirit, the water and the blood testify and all three agree.

Why water? Why blood? And why the Spirit?

The book of Exodus shows us how GOD remembered His people through the Alliance that He made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Exodus 3: 6-12). His people had suffered for 430 years in Egypt. No one suspected that one day His people would be delivered because the same people fasted and prayed incessantly, without getting any results. His people felt abandoned to themselves. And that’s what can happen today!

GOD is Spirit

John 4:24

But one day, the same GOD who is Spirit revealed Himself to Moses through the fire that emanated from the bush! (Exodus 3:1-12) The Bible says that GOD is Spirit. (John 4:24) When Moses saw that the bush was on fire but did not burn, he turned to look but saw nothing. Then a voice came out of the burning bush and said, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” (Exodus 3:5)

Moses saw that the bush was on fire but did not burn. But GOD spoke to him in the fire! GOD is Spirit! Nothing is impossible with Him! (Luke 1:37)

GOD then sent Moses to Pharaoh, but because Moses knew very well who was Pharaoh, he said: “Who am I to go to Pharaoh? Pharaoh will kill me!” GOD still sent him to Pharaoh, and Moses went. (Exodus 5:1)

My Brothers and Sisters, when things became difficult, Moses had his brother Aaron perform all the miracles that GOD had shown him, and Pharaoh had his magicians imitate those miracles. Aaron threw his stick that turned into a snake. Pharaoh’s magicians threw their sticks that also became serpents.

What score are we going to give to both teams? 1 to 1…

But the Bible says that Aaron’s serpent swallowed the Egyptians’ snakes! Because the Egyptians’ snakes could not attack that of Aaron… (Exodus 7:12) 2 to 1 for Moses and GOD! Nevertheless the miracle did not convince Pharaoh… (Exodus 7:13)

The power of the Blood

Exodus 12:7; Exodus 12:12-13)

The appearance of blood had therefore become necessary…

And when did the blood appear? In Exodus 12, GOD told Moses to give the following instructions to Israel: “Choose a lamb or a young goat. You will slaughter and eat it in the evening. You will not break its bones. You will eat it with bitter herbs. You will subsequently put some of its blood on the door-frames of your houses. I, GOD, I will pass by tonight. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This is between me and you.”

The blood intervened at that moment…

The children of Israel did what GOD had commanded. The blood that appeared was a secret between GOD and His people. No Egyptians had obeyed Moses because they despised the GOD of Abraham. The Egyptians said, “If GOD is so powerful, why is it that his people remained in bondage all this time?”

What has happened? Blood appeared before the door lintels. And at night, the Angel of Death came striking all the Egyptians. All experienced death in their families and began to cry and gnash their teeth.

But the people of GOD were not crying. Why? Because the blood had covered and protected them from the influence of death! (Exodus 12:29-30)

When all this happened, Pharaoh said to Moses, “Take your people and go out of Egypt!” All the Israelites gathered and left Egypt.

But after the people of Israel had left Egypt, Pharaoh said, “What prompted me to let them go? I have to pursue them because we have lost them as our slaves! They should come back and build my city! We have already buried the dead, right? We must now bring the Israelites here!”(Exodus 14:5)

The Bible says that Pharaoh had taken with him his elite soldiers and officers to pursue the Israelites. (Exodus 14:6-9)

The power of Water

Exodus 14:22; Numbers 8:7; Ezekiel 36:25; John 7:38)

What has happened next? As the Bible tells us that there are three that bear witness, and that the Spirit and the Blood had already occurred, it only needed the Water.

The Bible says that the Israelites were facing the Red Sea. They had no canoe or boat, or any other means to cross the sea. They were stuck with no solution, and they started crying!

My Sister, my Brother, you are perhaps chained, you are stuck, but the Lord can glorify Himself and take action!

If only the Israelites had understood… But the Bible says that they turned to look behind them and they saw Pharaoh and all his army! They knew very well who was Pharaoh!

Similarly, for example, the people of the Central African Republic are familiar with Seleka… (a rebel group behind the March 2013 coup d’état in CAR and, subsequently, author of numerous human rights violations against the population). If today we were told that Seleka elements are at PK12 neighborhood, I believe that many Central Africans would flee.

The Israelites turned to Moses and said, “Moses, look! It was you who wanted to kill us here! It was you who deceived us and you brought us here to die!”

Yet the blood had already been shed! From that moment they should have started praising and singing to GOD and saying, “Thank you Lord!”

But the people of Israel turned against Moses, saying, “Moses! ‘Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?’” (Exodus 14:10-12)?

GOD said to Moses, “Say to the people: ‘Do not worry.’ Tell them to keep quiet.” (Exodus 14:13-15)

Sometimes it is the fear that kills us before reality catches up with us. The Lord has a plan for your life, for my life and for everyone of us. But sometimes it is fear, anger or discouragement that will push you to go to consult Marabouts, to get addicted to alcohol, etc.! But you do not know what GOD wants for your life.

What happened with the Israelites? The Egyptians were getting closer and saying: “That’s it, that’s it! Thank you! We’ve already got them!”

GOD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand on the river. I will do to Pharaoh what nobody else has ever done to them, what their god is unable to do. I will prove to Pharaoh that all their charms, their worship of small gods, this is nothing! It is I who am God! They will taste my wrath today!” (Exodus 14:16-18)

GOD said, “Water, where are you? Blood has already intervened! The Spirit has already intervened. Water, now you complete the rest!”

Know that satanic spirits are nothing before the power of the King of kings! Our GOD is above all demonic spirits!

When GOD’s Glory came down, the sea was scared! It said “GOD is here! Split in two!” The water started to shrink back under the eyes of the Israelites. And GOD said to Moses, “Tell them to cross over!” (Exodus 14:21-22)

The people saw the water and Moses told them to obey GOD and go. They could have either obeyed, or stayed behind. Moses told the Israelites: “Is it not you who called me just now? Do you not know your GOD?”

The people of Israel began to enter the water and to cross. Pharaoh and his army did not see that there was no security before them and thought they could do the same thing as the Israelites did. (Exodus 14:22-23)

Our GOD is so powerful and holy that if sin gets involved in what He does, the person responsible for this sin could die.

For instance, my Sister, if GOD has united you to your husband, and someone attempts to destroy your family, this could cost such a person her life. Such a woman may have already destroyed other families, but the day she attempts to destroy yours, which is under GOD’s protection, she will meet her fate…

Remember that our GOD is the GOD of gods. He is by no means afraid of other gods! Thus He performed this miracle for the people of Israel! His blood had cleansed the Israelites who were not like the Egyptians!

GOD has not abandoned you

Genesis 28:15; Psalm 9:10; Psalm 37:25; Psalm 37:28; 2 Corinthians 4:8-10)

My Brother, my Sister, you are not like the pagans because you have already been cleansed by the Blood of Jesus and you have become pure before the Lord. Whatever your condition, Jesus has already purified and washed you! You can no longer be considered as the person you were yesterday, with yesterday’s vision! When the wicked see you, they say, “Is it not the same person?” But GOD has already cleansed you and you are no longer the same! GOD has already changed you. You have been purified, sanctified, set aside and justified by GOD!

On Judgment Day, the sinners will be condemned. But the Lord will say about His children: “My Blood has already cleansed him/her. S/he already belongs to me. Satan, you have no longer any right over her/him! Yes, it is true, s/he had sinned but s/he has confessed and I have forgiven him/her, I purified him/her! You do not have the right to condemn him/her because s/he is saved!”

Back to the Book of Exodus. The Israelites entered the water to cross the sea and the Egyptians said, “We, too, will get into the water.”

Today, demons are not afraid… Pharaoh’s chariots began to move into the water…

But the Blood, the Spirit and the Water had already intervened for the children of Israel who crossed the river safely. However, this turned out to be a failure for the Egyptians.

The Bible declares that they all got carried away by the water… (Exodus 14:24-31)

GOD is faithful to His promises. Our GOD is the One who does not change. Jesus said, “I am the same yesterday, today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8) GOD has a number of things to do in your life, certain procedures to carry out before He heals and blesses you. So do not think that GOD has abandoned you. There are stages in your life that GOD allows to glorify Himself. He cannot put aside neither the Water, the Blood nor the Spirit!

Jesus came to change the order of things

In the book of John, chapter 1, verse 29, John the Baptist saw Jesus and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” How does He take away the sin of the world? By His Blood.

Before Jesus Christ, it was the Spirit of GOD, which operated first. Afterward, it was the Blood; and then the Water.

After John the Baptist, GOD changed the order of things: First the Water, after the Blood, and then the Spirit.

Matthew, chapter 3, verses 13-17 tells us that Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan.

Before Jesus Christ, Water occurred last. But this time, the Water changed position to intervene in the first place.

When Jesus came to John the Baptist to be baptized, he said that it would rather be an honor for him to be baptized by Jesus and not the other way around. But Jesus said to John the Baptist to do what was right.

When John the Baptist baptized Jesus, the Bible states that the heavens opened and the Spirit of GOD descended on Jesus and a voice appeared in heaven, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)

So there was first Water. Then the Blood of Christ intervened at His death to cleanse us from our sins. Then His Spirit operated after His death.

All three elements are found in the bodies of human beings. Human beings have in them water, blood and spirit. When a human being is created, water appears first, then the blood and the spirit, then the child starts to move because s/he has life in him/her. A person who has no water in him/her cannot for instance have bones…
